Overview

The Echo Trout Spey is an 11' two-hand trout rod for the days when nothing is hatching and you want to cover water below the surface. It swings soft hackles and streamers on Skagit and Scandi heads, and Echo designed it to do more than swing: it flicks an emerger, mends a long indicator rig, tight-line nymphs and fishes a dry fly hatch.

It is built on a lightweight, high-modulus graphite blank with a medium fast action, and is closely related to Echo's Full Spey and Compact Spey. Every model has cork grips with rubberized cork end rings, heavy duty chrome snake guides and an anodized black aluminum reel seat, is 4-piece, and comes in a square fabric-covered rod case with a sock. We carry all three sizes: 2, 3 and 4 wt.

The heaviest Trout Spey, about 5.8 oz, for bigger rivers, heavier streamers and light sink tips.

Trout Spey vs Other Echo Two-Hand Rods

Echo calls the Trout Spey closely related to its Full Spey and Echo Compact Spey, and on Echo's action and power chart it is the fastest of Echo's two-hand rods, with moderate power. The 3 and 4 wt Echo TR2 are 11' and 11'3" trout two-handers rated for heavier heads (300 to 330 gr Skagit on the TR2 3 wt against 240 to 270 gr on the Trout Spey 3 wt). What is the warranty?

Echo's lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects for the original owner, for rods bought from an authorized dealer. If the rod breaks in normal fishing use, Echo repairs or replaces it for a service fee that varies by model; the fee is waived if the cause is a defect.
