How to size waders

Wader sizes come from three measurements: your largest girth (chest, waist or hips), your inseam, and your shoe size for the neoprene bootie. Most brands also offer Short, Regular, King (roomier) and Long fits, so two people who wear a Large can need different waders. Sizes differ from brand to brand, which is why we match you against each brand's own wader size chart.

Breathable waders: GORE-TEX vs. other fabrics

GORE-TEX waders from Simms and Grundens are built for daily use and guiding. Patagonia's H2No and the Toray, nylon and polyester waders cost less and suit anglers who fish a few times a month. More layers in the legs and seat means more durability where waders wear out first.

Zip front or pull-over?

Zip front waders are easier to get on and off and quicker for a bathroom break. Pull-over styles cost less.

Don't forget boots

Stockingfoot waders need wading boots worn over the bootie, and many brands recommend going up a size. The finder shows your boot size for each brand too.
