Overview

The Echo Swing Spey is a full-length two-hand rod for salmon and steelhead, with a crisp medium fast action and real backbone at a price that does not break the bank. Echo built it to fit a wide range of casting strokes and fishing situations, whether you are swinging, skating or fishing an indicator.

It has a gloss blue steel blank, SiC stripping guides and hard chrome snake guides, cork grips with rubberized cork butt caps and an anodized aluminum reel seat. Every model is 4-piece and comes in a fabric-covered rod case with a sock. We carry the three spey lengths: 12'6" 6 wt, 13' 7 wt and 13'6" 8 wt.

Which Swing Spey Should You Choose?

Summer steelhead, smaller rivers and lighter heads: ECHOSW6126 (12'6" 6 wt).

One rod for most steelhead and salmon: ECHOSW7130 (13' 7 wt).

Big water, longer casts and heavier tips: ECHOSW8136 (13'6" 8 wt).

ECHOSW7130 - 13' 7 wt

Swing Spey vs Other Echo Two-Hand Rods

The Echo TR2 comes in the same three spey lengths (12'6" 6 wt, 13' 7 wt, 13'6" 8 wt) but is rated for heavier heads (for example 600 to 630 gr Skagit on the 8 wt against 540 to 570 gr on the Swing) and sits far above the Swing in power on Echo's chart. Echo also makes the Swing as a shorter Swing Switch (11'6" to 11'8") and as 11' 3 and 4 wt trout rods. For a lighter, high-modulus 12' rod built for compact heads, see the Echo Compact Spey.

Echo Swing Spey FAQ

What action is the Swing Spey?

Medium fast. On Echo's action and power chart it is one of the lowest-power rods in Echo's two-hand line, which makes it forgiving for a wide range of casting strokes.

Which weight should I choose?

The 13' 7 wt for most steelhead and salmon, the 12'6" 6 wt for summer fish and smaller rivers, and the 13'6" 8 wt for big water and heavier tips.

Does it come with a case?

Yes, a fabric-covered rod case and a rod sock.

How is it different from the Echo TR2?

Same lengths, but the TR2 has more power and is rated for heavier heads, with a beefy butt section for big sink tips. The Swing Spey is the softer, more affordable rod.

What is the warranty?

Echo's lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects for the original owner, for rods bought from an authorized dealer. If the rod breaks in normal fishing use, Echo repairs or replaces it for a service fee that varies by model; the fee is waived if the cause is a defect.
