Description
Overview
The Echo SR (Switch Rod) is a fast-action two-hander in short lengths, for anglers who like a shorter rod for swinging, skating or stripping flies. Echo makes it in six sizes from 3 to 8 wt, 10'6" to 10'10". The 3 to 5 wt models are trout rods (and good smallmouth rods), and the 6 to 8 wt models have the power for steelhead and salmon.
It has a dark slate gloss blank, hard chrome single foot guides, cork grips with composite inserts and a black anodized reel seat. Every SR is 4-piece and comes in a fabric-covered rod case with a sock. We carry all six models.

SR vs Other Echo Two-Hand Rods
The SR is the fast-action switch rod in Echo's two-hand line; Echo rates its other switch rod, the Swing Switch, medium fast, and puts the SR well above it in power. For trout two-handers in a longer 11' length, see the Echo Trout Spey and the 3 and 4 wt Echo TR2. For a full 12' rod built for compact heads, see the Echo Compact Spey, which Echo's chart puts slightly faster than the SR with a little less power.
Echo SR FAQ
Is the SR a switch rod or a spey rod?
A switch rod: Echo calls it SR (Switch Rod). At 10'6" to 10'10" it is shorter than a spey rod and is cast with two hands using Skagit or Scandi heads.
Which weight should I choose?
A 3 to 5 wt for trout and smallmouth (the 4 wt is the all-rounder), a 6 to 8 wt for steelhead and salmon (the 7 wt is the all-rounder).
What action is the SR?
Fast, according to Echo's spec table.
Does it come with a case?
Yes, a fabric-covered rod case and a rod sock.
What is the warranty?
Echo's lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects for the original owner, for rods bought from an authorized dealer. If the rod breaks in normal fishing use, Echo repairs or replaces it for a service fee that varies by model; the fee is waived if the cause is a defect.
