Description
Overview
The Echo Musky is a single-hand 11 wt built from the ground up for one job: casting bird-sized flies to musky all day and still having the leverage to work the fish at the boat. Echo developed it with a group of the Midwest's most dedicated musky anglers, and it is made to handle everything that fishery asks for, from full sinking and intermediate tip lines to a thousand casts and figure eights beside the boat.
A bottom grip below the reel seat gives you a second hand on the rod for long casts with heavy flies and for steering a fish through the figure eight. Both models are 11 wt and 4-piece, with a long cork grip, a black reel seat and a dark green blank. The only difference is length: the 8'8" for boats that sit low to the water, and the 9'4" for higher decks. We carry both.
Which Musky Should You Choose?
Boats that sit low to the water, for boatside figure eights: ECHOMUSKY1188 (8'8" 11 wt).
Taller boats and higher casting decks: ECHOMUSKY1194 (9'4" 11 wt).

Echo Musky Models
ECHOMUSKY1188 - 8'8" 11 wt
The shorter Musky suits boats that sit low to the water. At 8'8" it is easier to keep the rod tip working close to the surface when you run figure eights at the side of the boat, and Echo lists it at 4.75 oz.
Best for: low-sided boats, boatside figure eights, big flies on full sinking or intermediate tip lines.
Line pairing: An 11 wt floating line with a short, heavy head made to turn over very large flies, or an intermediate line to run them deeper. We recommend the SA Amplitude Smooth Tropical Jungle Titan (WF11F) or the Cortland Pike Musky Floating (WF11F).
ECHOMUSKY1194 - 9'4" 11 wt
The longer Musky is the one for higher-decked boats. The extra length lets you reach down to the water from a tall deck and keep the fly moving through the figure eight for the close-up eat. Echo lists it at 5.0 oz.
Best for: taller boats and higher casting decks, long casts with heavy flies.
Musky vs EPR
The Musky is purpose-built for musky fishing, with a bottom grip on both models and two lengths matched to the boat you fish from. The Echo EPR is a 9' single-hand series that Echo calls its fastest, most powerful rod, designed with bass and musky angler Pat Ehlers; Echo says its 11 wt is a favorite size of musky and tarpon anglers alike, and it also comes in lighter and heavier weights for bass, streamers and saltwater. For lighter streamer fishing, see the Echo Streamer X.
Echo Musky FAQ
Why does the Musky have a bottom grip?
The grip below the reel seat gives you a second hand on the rod. It adds leverage for casting oversized flies all day and for steering a fish through the figure eight at the boat.
Should I choose the 8'8" or the 9'4"?
Match it to your boat. Echo recommends the 8'8" for boats that sit lower to the water and the 9'4" for higher-decked boats, where the extra length helps you reach the water for the figure eight.
What lines can I fish on it?
Echo designed the Musky to handle the full range of musky lines, from floating to intermediate tip and full sinking lines.
Does it come with a case?
Yes. The Musky comes with a fabric-covered rod tube and rod sock.
What is the warranty?
The rod is covered by Echo's lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects for the original owner, when bought from an authorized dealer. If it breaks in normal fishing use, Echo repairs or replaces it for a service fee that varies by model.
