The Echo Gecko Trout Fly Rod and Reel Kit is everything a kid needs to start fly fishing for trout. Inside is Echo's 7'9" 5 wt Gecko Trout rod with an Echo reel already loaded with backing, fly line and a leader. Echo strings the kit up before it ships, so it goes from the box to the water with no rigging.

Echo designed the Gecko for young anglers: a modest, forgiving action, bright kid-friendly looks and camo-pattern foam grips, plus a short lower grip so the rod can be cast with both hands. The 4-piece rod and the reel pack together in a zippered Echo case for the trip to the water.

What is included?

Does it need to be rigged?

No. Echo strings the kit up before it ships, so it is ready for the water.

Why does the rod have a second grip?

The short lower grip lets a young angler hold the rod with both hands for casting, or fish it one-handed.

Is there a smaller version?

The Gecko Panfish kit uses a 7'6" 4 wt rod for bluegill and other panfish.

What is the warranty?

Echo covers the Gecko rod against manufacturing defects for the life of the original owner, provided it was bought from an authorized dealer. A rod broken in normal fishing is repaired or replaced for a service fee that depends on the model, and Echo waives the fee when a defect caused the break. The reel has a one-year Echo warranty for the original owner.
