Overview

The Echo Bad Ass Glass Quickshot is fiberglass built for big water and big fish. Echo designed the B.A.G. for big game fisheries, where you have to throw large rigs to large fish and get the cast off fast, work that used to sit well outside what anyone expected from glass. The Quickshot is the 8' version: the shorter rod lets you come through your stroke quicker, so you can make fast shots at moving fish on the flats, in the surf or from the bow of a boat.

Forget the old idea that glass has to be slow. Echo calls this blank "Glass Fast", a fast-action fiberglass in translucent sky blue that stays lively all day and still gives you the deep bend and feel glass is known for when a fish is on. Every Quickshot is 4-piece and comes in Echo's blue fiberglass rod tube. We carry five models, all 8', from 6 to 10 wt.

Which Bad Ass Glass Quickshot Should You Choose?

Bonefish flats and lighter inshore or beach fishing: ECHOBAG680 (8' 6 wt).

Bonefish, inshore saltwater and striped bass: ECHOBAG780 (8' 7 wt).

One glass rod for the salt and for bass and other big freshwater predators: ECHOBAG880 (8' 8 wt).

Bigger flies, wind and heavier fish, fresh or salt: ECHOBAG980 (8' 9 wt).

The biggest flies and the biggest fish: ECHOBAG1080 (8' 10 wt).

Echo Bad Ass Glass Quickshot Models

ECHOBAG680 - 8' 6 wt

The lightest Quickshot. Echo's line chart pairs it with bonefish tapers for tropical flats and with beach lines for cooler coastal water, so it suits smaller flies and quick shots at cruising fish.

Best for: bonefish flats, beach and light inshore fishing.

Line pairing: A 6 wt weight-forward floating saltwater line with a short, aggressive front taper. We recommend the SA Amplitude Smooth Bonefish (WF6F) or the SA Amplitude Textured Bonefish (WF6F).

ECHOBAG780 - 8' 7 wt

A 7 wt that Echo matches to both tropical flats lines and striper lines, so it covers bonefish and inshore fishing as well as striped bass along the coast.

Best for: bonefish, inshore saltwater, striped bass.

Line pairing: A 7 wt weight-forward floating saltwater line for the flats and inshore work. We recommend the SA Amplitude Textured Bonefish (WF7F) or the SA Amplitude Smooth Grand Slam (WF7F).

ECHOBAG880 - 8' 8 wt

The most versatile Quickshot. Echo's line chart lists tropical, cold saltwater and bass and musky lines for the 8 wt, so one rod can cover the flats, the surf and big freshwater predators.

Best for: all-round saltwater, striped bass, bass and big freshwater predators.

Line pairing: An 8 wt weight-forward floating saltwater line, or a bass and musky taper for big freshwater flies. We recommend the SA Amplitude Textured Bonefish (WF8F) or the SA Amplitude Smooth Grand Slam (WF8F).

ECHOBAG980 - 8' 9 wt

The 9 wt steps up for larger flies, stiffer wind and heavier fish, in the salt or on big freshwater with bass and musky lines.

Best for: bigger flies, windy days, heavier saltwater and freshwater fish.

Line pairing: A 9 wt weight-forward floating saltwater line with the mass to turn over bigger flies. We recommend the SA Amplitude Smooth Grand Slam (WF9F) or the SA Amplitude Smooth Tropical Jungle Titan (WF9F).

ECHOBAG1080 - 8' 10 wt

The heaviest Quickshot, with the second of Echo's two grip styles for a firmer hold when you fight big fish. Reviewers found it casts best with an aggressive, short-head taper.

Best for: the biggest flies, big saltwater game fish, offshore and inshore heavy work.

Line pairing: A 10 wt tropical or tarpon-style floating line with a short, aggressive head. We recommend the SA Amplitude Smooth Tarpon (WF10F) or the SA Amplitude Smooth Grand Slam (WF10F).

Bad Ass Glass Quickshot vs Other Echo Rods

The Quickshot is Echo's fast glass for saltwater and big fish. If you want fiberglass for trout and small water, the Echo River Glass brings the fun and feel of glass in light line weights and short lengths. If you prefer graphite in the salt, the Echo Boost Blue is a crisp, fast-action 9' saltwater rod built for aggressive casters, and the Echo EPR is Echo's fastest, most powerful rod, for big flies, big fish and big wind.

Echo Bad Ass Glass Quickshot FAQ

Can I fish the Quickshot in saltwater?

Yes. Echo bills it as saltwater ready and calls it a fiberglass rod for inshore and offshore saltwater. Rinse it after each salt trip; Echo's warranty does not cover saltwater corrosion.

Is fiberglass too slow for big fish?

Not this rod. Echo calls the action "Glass Fast" and built it to throw big rigs quickly, while it keeps the bend and feel of glass when a fish is on.

How is the Quickshot different from the original Bad Ass Glass?

It is 8' instead of 9'. The shorter rod comes through the stroke faster for quick shots at moving fish, and it is its own design, not a cut-down 9' rod.

Does it come with a case?

Yes. Each Quickshot comes in Echo's blue fiberglass rod tube.

What is the warranty?

The rod is covered by Echo's lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects for the original owner, when bought from an authorized dealer. If it breaks in normal fishing use, Echo repairs or replaces it for a service fee that varies by model.

Which weight should I choose?

The 8 wt if you want one rod for the salt and big freshwater fish, the 6 or 7 wt for bonefish and lighter inshore work, and the 9 or 10 wt for big flies, wind and big game.
