Overview
The Echo River Glass brings the fun and feel of fiberglass to the modern angler. It is a slow, smooth, forgiving rod built for short casts, light tippets and dry flies on small streams. Hatch Magazine noted that the rods are handmade and hand painted.
Echo offers every River Glass in two blank colors, so you can stand out or blend in: Gorgeous Glacier, a light blue-teal, and Seductive Caramel, a reddish brown. Both colors share the same cork grip and cork reel seat with aluminum hardware, and each rod comes with a color-matched rod tube. The 6'9" 2 wt and 3 wt are 3-piece; the 7'6" and 8' 4 wt are 4-piece. We carry all four models in both colors.
Which River Glass Should You Choose?
Tiny streams, small fish and the lightest tippets: ECHORG269-GG or ECHORG269-SC (6'9" 2 wt).
Small streams with a little more line for bigger dries: ECHORG369-GG or ECHORG369-SC (6'9" 3 wt).
Delicate dry fly presentations with a 4 wt: ECHORG476-GG or ECHORG476-SC (7'6" 4 wt).
More reach and line control on small and medium streams: ECHORG480-GG or ECHORG480-SC (8' 4 wt).
The -GG models are Gorgeous Glacier and the -SC models Seductive Caramel. The rods are otherwise the same.

Echo River Glass Models
ECHORG269-GG / ECHORG269-SC - 6'9" 2 wt
The lightest River Glass, a 6'9" 2 wt for tiny streams where casts are short and the tippet is light. It is the size Hatch Magazine tested and called a sweet little rod, a specialized tool for short casts with light tippet.
Best for: tiny streams, small dry flies, short casts with light tippet.
Line pairing: A 2 wt floating line, double taper or a short weight-forward taper for soft, close casts. We recommend the SA Amplitude Textured Double Taper (DT2F) or the Cortland Headwater (WF2F).
ECHORG369-GG / ECHORG369-SC - 6'9" 3 wt
The same short, 3-piece glass rod with a 3 wt line, for small streams when you want a little more line to turn over a bigger dry or a dropper.
Best for: small streams, dry flies, short accurate casts.
Line pairing: A 3 wt floating creek or double-taper line that loads the rod at short range. We recommend the SA Amplitude Textured Double Taper (DT3F) or the SA Amplitude Smooth Creek Trout (WF3F).
ECHORG476-GG / ECHORG476-SC - 7'6" 4 wt
A 7'6" 4 wt, 4-piece, with a slow action that presents small dry flies delicately. It is happiest close in with small flies rather than throwing big flies at distance.
Best for: small dry flies, delicate presentations, small to medium streams.
Line pairing: A 4 wt weight-forward or double-taper floating trout line. We recommend the SA Amplitude Textured Double Taper (DT4F) or the SA Amplitude Smooth Creek Trout (WF4F).
ECHORG480-GG / ECHORG480-SC - 8' 4 wt
The longest River Glass, an 8' 4 wt that adds reach for keeping line off the water and mending on small and medium streams, with the same soft glass feel.
Best for: small to medium streams, dry flies, mending and line control.
Line pairing: A 4 wt weight-forward or double-taper floating trout line. We recommend the SA Amplitude Textured Double Taper (DT4F) or the SA Amplitude Smooth Creek Trout (WF4F).
River Glass vs Other Echo Rods
Echo's other fiberglass rod, the Echo Bad Ass Glass Quickshot, is a faster, stronger glass rod for bigger flies and bigger fish; on Echo's chart the River Glass is the medium-action, delicate-power one. Echo notes that fiberglass and graphite actions are not directly comparable. If you want a light graphite rod for the same small water, see the 7'3" 2 wt and 7'6" 3 wt Echo Carbon XL.
