Description

Overview

The Echo Lago is a 10' fly rod for lake anglers. Most stillwater fishing is done sitting low in a float tube, a small pontoon or a boat, and Echo matched the Lago's action and power to its length so your back cast stays off the water and your loops stay open instead of tailing.

Echo also notes that the Lago lives a double life as a summer steelhead rod and a nymphing rod for large trout. It has a semi gloss cobalt blue finish, a full wells cork grip, a cork fighting butt and a reel seat with a blue insert. Every model is 4-piece and comes with a hard case and rod sock. We carry all three: the 10' 5, 6 and 7 wt.

Which Lago Should You Choose?

Trout lakes, dry flies and light flies from a float tube: ECHOLG5100 (10' 5 wt).

All-round lake fishing with floating or sinking lines: ECHOLG6100 (10' 6 wt).

Bigger fish, bigger flies and wind on large lakes: ECHOLG7100 (10' 7 wt).

Echo Lago Models

ECHOLG5100 - 10' 5 wt

The lightest Lago, with a soft enough tip to fish dries and small flies delicately while the 10' length keeps your back cast clear of the water.

Best for: trout lakes, dry flies, float tubes and pontoons.

Line pairing: A 5 wt floating stillwater line first, with an intermediate line for fishing just under the surface. We recommend the SA Stillwater Float (WF5F) or the RIO Elite Stillwater Floater (WF5F).

ECHOLG6100 - 10' 6 wt

The middle of the series and the most versatile size for lakes, from dries to stripped flies on sinking lines. It also suits nymphing for large trout on rivers.

Best for: all-round lake fishing, large-trout nymphing.

Line pairing: A 6 wt floating stillwater line, plus an intermediate or a density-compensated sinking line for deeper fish. We recommend the SA Stillwater Float (WF6F) or the RIO Elite Stillwater Floater (WF6F).

ECHOLG7100 - 10' 7 wt

The 7 wt adds power for bigger fish, bigger flies and wind on large lakes, and Echo points to the Lago as a summer steelhead rod as well.

Best for: bigger fish, big lakes, wind, summer steelhead.

Line pairing: A 7 wt floating line, with an intermediate line when fish hold deeper. We recommend the SA Stillwater Float (WF7F) or the RIO Elite Stillwater Floater (WF7F).

Lago vs Stillwater and Indicator

Echo's other lake rod, the Echo Stillwater, is the competition-level option: Echo plots it faster and more powerful than the Lago, and reviewers who fished both 10' 5 wts found it better in wind, from the bank and with heavy sinking lines. The Lago has a deeper flex and a softer tip, which reviewers found gives more feel and a more delicate presentation with dries. For indicator nymphing on rivers, see the Echo Indicator.

Echo Lago FAQ

Why a 10' rod for lakes?

When you sit low in a float tube, pontoon or boat, a longer rod keeps your back cast off the water. Echo tuned the Lago's action and power to that length to help you avoid tailing loops.

Can I use the Lago on rivers?

Yes. Echo says it doubles as a summer steelhead rod and a nymphing rod for large trout.

Does it come with a case?

Yes. Every Lago comes with a hard case and rod sock.

What is the warranty?

The rod is covered by Echo's lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects for the original owner, when bought from an authorized dealer. If it breaks in normal fishing use, Echo repairs or replaces it for a service fee that varies by model.

How is it different from the Echo Stillwater?

The Stillwater is faster and more powerful, for wind, long casts and heavy sinking lines. The Lago is softer with more feel, and it costs less.
