Overview

The Sage Igniter was Sage's ultra-fast rod for the most demanding conditions: strong head wind, fish at distance, bulky rigs and heavy sink tips. Sage gave it a high line speed taper to carry a lot of line at long range and cut through wind, and was upfront that it was not a rod for the everyday angler. It rewards a strong caster with accuracy at distance, especially into the wind. Sage has discontinued the Igniter, so these are the last ones we have; Sage's current ultra-fast series is the Sage Power R8, widely described as the Igniter's successor.

The Igniter is built with Sage KonneticHD Technology on a Chipotle blank with Cayenne wraps and Gunmetal trim, Fuji ceramic stripper guides and the line weight laser etched on the slide band. The 4 and 5 wt have a cocobolo wood insert in a gunmetal anodized up-locking reel seat and a Flor grade snub-nose half-wells cork grip. The 7 wt has a gunmetal up-locking seat with an integrated hidden hook keeper and a full-wells grip with a fighting butt. All three are 9' 4-piece rods, ship in a black powder coated aluminum tube, and were made in the USA.
