The Echo Carbon XL Euro Nymph is Echo's easy way into Euro nymphing. Echo took its Carbon XL trout rod, stretched it to 10', gave it a new tip section and a few other upgrades, and aimed the result at anglers who want a capable tight-line rod without competing at the national championships.

Echo calls it a trout rod for every occasion: it handles any style of nymphing, dry flies and lake fishing, with a balance of action and power that keeps it versatile. Both models are 4-piece with a cork grip, a short cork fighting butt and a carbon-weave reel seat insert on a dark brown blank, and come in a fabric-covered rod tube. ECHOCBXL4100-N - 10' 4 wt

The 4 wt adds backbone for larger fish while keeping the 10' reach for tight-line drifts.

What action is the Carbon XL Euro Nymph?

Echo calls it a medium action Euro nymph rod for all skill levels. It is softer than the Shadow II and Shadow X.

Is it only for Euro nymphing?

No. Echo built it for any style of nymphing as well as dry flies and lake fishing. Use a line one size up (WF4 on the 3 wt, WF5 on the 4 wt) for those.

Does it come with a case?

Yes. It comes in a fabric-covered rod tube.

What is the warranty?

The rod is covered by Echo's lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects for the original owner, when bought from an authorized dealer. If it breaks in normal fishing use, Echo repairs or replaces it for a service fee that varies by model.

Which weight should I choose?

The 3 wt for most trout water and the 4 wt when you expect larger fish or heavier rigs.
