The Echo Traverse Kit is a complete, ready-to-fish outfit. Echo put it together for anglers who want a high performance rig in one box at a budget-friendly level, and sums it up as just add a fly and water.

Echo designed the Traverse rod exclusively for this kit: a 9' 4-piece blank in a deep burgundy finish with a smooth, versatile medium-fast action, a cork grip and a silver up-locking reel seat. Every kit includes an Echo ION fly reel spooled with backing, a premium weight-forward floating fly line, a tapered leader and a carrying case with an attached reel pouch. We carry all four kits: 4, 5, 6 and 8 wt.

Traverse Kit vs Buying a Rod and Reel Separately

The Traverse rod is made only for this kit, so the kit is the way to get it. On Echo's action and power chart the Traverse sits at mid power with a medium-fast action, faster than the Echo Lift and the Echo Carbon XL and with less power than the Echo Trout X. If you already own a reel and line, one of those rods on its own is the simpler buy. The reel in the kit is the Echo ION, also sold separately.

What is the warranty?

The rod is covered by Echo's lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects for the original owner, when bought from an authorized dealer; if it breaks in normal fishing use, Echo repairs or replaces it for a service fee that varies by model. The Echo ION reel has a 1-year warranty.

Which weight should I choose?

The 5 wt for most trout fishing, the 4 wt for small streams and dries, the 6 wt for bigger flies, wind and bass, and the 8 wt for larger fish and heavy flies.
