Description
Overview
The Scott Centric is Scott's premium fast-action freshwater fly rod, handcrafted in Montrose, Colorado, and the successor to the Radian. Scott calls the Centric the most efficient rods it has made: flat, stable loops and high line speed at any distance with little effort, plus easy-flexing tips that give real feedback and make roll casts and mends easy.
New tapers, multi-modulus layups, a denser resin system and second-generation ARC reinforcement make the blank stable along several axes, and custom rolling equipment places the fibers with new precision. The Centric sits between Scott's moderate GT and its old Radian: more forgiving than the Radian but with better loop control and mending at distance.

Scott Centric Models
C8544 - 8'6" 4 wt
Light and crisp at close to medium range, with tight, accurate loops even on long leaders and the ability to tighten up for longer casts or wind. It is a dry fly specialist with enough spine for dry-droppers and light nymphing.
Best for: dry flies on small to medium rivers, dry-droppers, light nymphing.
Line pairing: Recommended line weight 115-130 grains. We recommend the SA Amplitude Smooth Trout Expert (WF4F) or the SA Amplitude Smooth Infinity (WF4F).
C9044 - 9' 4 wt
Line speed and stability with feel, for long 6X leaders, trico spinners and pinpoint accuracy, yet with the power for nymph rigs and terrestrials. Its loop control makes reach, bump and snake casts easy, and it protects light tippet and tiny hooks.
Best for: technical dry flies, spring creeks, terrestrials, light nymph rigs.
Line pairing: Recommended line weight 120-135 grains. We recommend the SA Amplitude Smooth Trout Expert (WF4F) or the RIO Elite Gold (WF4F).
C10044 - 10' 4 wt
Built for nymphing, dries and stillwater, with the power for long casts on lakes or while deep wading and a sensitive tip that protects light tippet. It roll casts and single-hand speys well and still presents a small dry.
Best for: Euro and indicator nymphing, technical lakes, high-sticking.
Line pairing: Recommended line weight 120-135 grains. We recommend the SA Amplitude Smooth Infinity (WF4F) or the RIO Elite Technical Trout (WF4F).
C9054 - 9' 5 wt
The do-it-all Centric. It controls loop shape and line speed from tight, fast loops to open ones, handles dries, nymphs and streamers, and roll casts, single-hand speys and mends easily. Reviewers note it stays strong out to 60 feet.
Best for: one rod for most trout water, dries to streamers.
Line pairing: Recommended line weight 140-155 grains. We recommend the SA Amplitude Smooth Infinity (WF5F) or the RIO Elite Gold (WF5F).
C9554 - 9'6" 5 wt
A nymph and streamer focused 5 wt with a fighting butt, a supple tip for stack mends and roll casts, and power in the butt for bulky rigs. It covers big water with dries, nymphs and streamers on floating or sinking lines and can be fished all day without fatigue.
Best for: big rivers, nymph rigs, streamers, single-hand spey.
Line pairing: Recommended line weight 140-155 grains. We recommend the SA Amplitude Smooth Infinity (WF5F) or the RIO Elite Technical Trout (WF5F).
C10054 - 10' 5 wt
Scott's favorite Centric for lake fishing. It has the power for long casts and sinking lines and the feel for subtle strikes, from floating lines during hatches to leeches, buggers and crawdads on sink tips, plus reach and line control on larger rivers.
Best for: stillwater, sink-tip and sinking lines, big river nymphing.
Line pairing: Recommended line weight 140-155 grains. We recommend the SA Amplitude Smooth Infinity (WF5F) or the Airflo Superflo Max Power Taper (WF5F).
C9064 - 9' 6 wt
Easy-going power for big foam bugs, double fly and indicator rigs, and streamers, with the touch to fish small dries on the same day. It picks up long line and bulky rigs easily and is capable on big Alaska water.
Best for: big rivers, foam bugs and dry-droppers, indicator nymphing, streamers.
Line pairing: Recommended line weight 160-185 grains. We recommend the SA Amplitude Smooth Infinity (WF6F) or the RIO Elite Gold (WF6F).
C9064FB - 9' 6 wt with fighting butt
The same rod as the C9064 with a fighting butt for leverage on bigger fish. Scott kept the micarta reel seat insert rather than switching to a heavier all-aluminum seat, so it feels nearly identical in hand.
Best for: bigger fish, streamers, float trips where a fighting butt helps.
Line pairing: Recommended line weight 160-185 grains. We recommend the SA Amplitude Smooth Infinity (WF6F) or the RIO Elite Gold (WF6F).
C9564 - 9'6" 6 wt
Scott's favorite multi-discipline 6 wt for streamers, lakes and single-hand spey, and the rod for the largest rivers where distance, line control and butt power matter. It mends and roll casts exceptionally well with very high line speed.
Best for: the largest rivers, windy lakes, big indicator rigs, streamers.
Line pairing: Recommended line weight 160-185 grains. We recommend the SA Amplitude Smooth Titan Long Taper (WF6F) or the SA Amplitude Smooth Infinity (WF6F).
C10064 - 10' 6 wt
The most specialized Centric: smooth and controlled for stillwater and for steelhead and salmon rivers. It casts every line density, single-hand speys and roll casts, and suits any freshwater job that needs a powerful 6 weight with line control.
Best for: stillwater, light-line steelhead and salmon, high-stick nymphing on big rivers.
Line pairing: Recommended line weight 160-180 grains. We recommend the SA Amplitude Smooth Infinity (WF6F) or the SA Stillwater Intermediate (WF6I).
C9074 - 9' 7 wt
For streamers, bass bugs and big fish that want a big meal. It is light, powerful and responsive enough to cast all day from a drift boat, loads heavy heads easily, and doubles as a light saltwater rod for bonefish and redfish.
Best for: heavy trout streamers, bass, Alaska, light saltwater.
Line pairing: Recommended line weight 185-210 grains. We recommend the SA Amplitude Smooth Titan Long Taper (WF7F) or the SA Amplitude Smooth Infinity (WF7F).
Centric vs Session vs GT
Centric is Scott's premium fast-action freshwater rod, with faster recovery, a stiffer mid section that handles wind, and premium components: titanium stripping guides with zirconia inserts, Snake Brand Universal snakes, Flor cork and a fully milled seat with micarta insert.
Scott Session costs less, is a little softer and loads deeper at short range, a strong value for anglers who fish mostly inside 50 feet.
Scott GT is Scott's moderate-action series, built for touch, feel and delicate presentation rather than speed and distance.
