Overview

The Lamson Speedster S is Lamson's hot rod: the biggest diameter and fastest line pickup of any Lamson in a given line weight. That super-large arbor brings line back fast when a fish runs at you, and keeps coils out of your line. Lamson redesigned the S-Series spool to cut about 20% of the weight without giving up strength.

It is machined from 6061 aluminum with stainless steel parts, finished in hard Alox, and runs Lamson's sealed conical drag, which is smooth, maintenance free and starts without a jerk. Speedster reels are made in the USA and assembled in Boise, Idaho.

Which size? The -3+ fits 2 to 4 wt rods, the -5+ 4 to 6 wt, the -7+ 6 to 8 wt, and the -9+ 8 to 10 wt for steelhead, bonefish and stripers.

Compare: The Lamson Litespeed is even lighter for its diameter. The Liquid S and Remix S put the same conical drag in a lower-priced cast reel.
