The Orvis Hydros is the all-round machined reel for anglers who want a sealed drag without paying top-end prices. Its fully sealed drag stacks carbon and stainless steel discs, with zero start-up inertia to protect light tippets and plenty of stopping power for bigger fish. The seal keeps grit and water away from the clutch bearing, so it stays smooth season after season.

The large arbor is a standard-width design that balances well on lighter rods while still picking up line quickly. Orvis stiffened the narrow spool to cut line stacking, made the drag knob easier to reach, and radiused the reel foot so it will not kink your leader.

Which size? Hydros I (1-3 wt, 4.7 oz) for small-stream rods, II (3-5 wt, 5.0 oz) for most trout rods, III (5-7 wt, 5.5 oz) for big rivers and streamers, and IV (7-9 wt, 6.6 oz) for bass, steelhead and the flats.
