The Griffin Odyssey Spider is Griffin's entry-level true rotary vise, and an easy recommendation for a first serious vise. Its steel jaws hold hooks from #28 to 4/0, so it grows with you from beginner trout patterns to streamers. Rotary lets you turn the fly to check proportions and wrap materials evenly, which makes learning faster.

It mounts with an aluminum C-clamp that grips the edge of a table firmly. A pedestal base is available separately if you tie on a surface you cannot clamp to.
