Overview

The Inferno-Gons are perdigon-style nymphs from Umpqua, built to sink fast and to hook and hold fish well.

Perdigons are slim, smooth, heavy nymphs that cut through the current, so they reach the bottom quickly on a Euro rig. Some Inferno-Gons colors suggest mayfly or caddis nymphs, while others lean on bright hot spots to trigger strikes. Our colors are on the attractor side, made to light things up in deep or off-color water.

Euro Specs

• Role: Anchor (point) fly in 14 and 16; upper or dropper fly in 18.

How to Fish It

• Euro nymphing: fish it as the point fly and add a lighter nymph 18 to 20 inches above.
• Indicator rig: lead with it in deep runs and pockets.
• Dry-dropper: hang the 18 under a foam dry in riffles.
• Conditions: bright attractor colors help in stained water, high flows and low light.

Choosing Color and Size

Purple is a proven perdigon color with a strong silhouette in deep or stained water, offered in 14 for heavy water and 16 for all-around use. Pink is a bright hot-spot color that fish see in off-color water, offered in 18 for clearer water and lighter rigs.
